Navitron TDC3 Solar Controller
specs 155 x 113 x 50mm
---------------------------------------------------------------
The TDC3 is currently our most popular Controller. It is a high-end controller which allows great flexibility in setup and control of solar systems - it can be used for a single solar panel system with or without variable pump speed control, swimming pools, with heat dumps or switching conventional heating systems, it can be used with two pump East/West twin solar panel systems. In fact, it is equivalent to the Resol BS3, BS4 and BSPro models (although of course, features do vary between the manufacturers)
The TDC3 Controller has a high definition screen allowing moving graphics, and all three temperature readings to be displayed simultaneously. It is able to address three temperature sensor inputs and has two relay outputs, including one 'electronic' relay which can provide variable speed control for pumps. There are 15 plumbing schematics, which include twin pump systems, heat dumps, systems for preheating long piperuns, and generic delta-T control for non-solar applications. Heat Gain is a standard feature, and is estimated from the data inputs and a correction factor (installers usually set this to 0%, although -10% is probably a realistic figure for most installations). The display indicates the total heat gain to date (kWh) and also, when the pump is running, it will display the rate of heat gain (W).

Variable Pump Speed Control
The TDC3 has three variable pump speed control protocols. It also has a damping feature, which prevents cyclic resonance. The waveform picture below shows how the TDC3 modifies the waveform when variable pump speed control is implemented - unlike the Resol system, which cuts out occasional half-cycles, which can causee pulsing sounds from the pump.
Ethernet Option (USB Option also available)
We have recently launched the Ethernet version of the TDC3 (named TDC3-e). This has an Ethernet connection, which allows the controller to be permamently interfaced with a network, making it possible to read the data remotely, and to alter the settings using the supplied software utility. We are currently working with the designer to develop internet access software, which will allow the data to be accessed direct from websites anywhere in the world.

Partial screenshot from the ethernet utility application - the appearance and controls are exactly the same as the actual controller - so you already know how to use it!
